Privacy Policy
DoorQuests is a personally operated interactive-entertainment website. This notice describes the data practices of the website at doorquests.com and how to contact its operator.
1. Information you choose to provide
You can browse and play the existing stories without creating an account. If you email us at knock@doorquests.com, we receive the email address and any information you include in your message. We use that information to respond, manage the correspondence and address requests or concerns. Please do not send sensitive personal information unnecessarily.
2. Information stored in your browser
DoorQuests and its interactive stories use browser localStorage to remember settings such as selected story filters and, for many stories, progress, choices and unlocked endings. This information is stored on your device under the DoorQuests website origin. The current story implementations do not intentionally send this saved progress to the site operator. You can remove it through your browser's site-data controls, but doing so may erase progress and preferences.
3. Hosting and technical requests
The website is hosted using GitHub Pages. GitHub states that visitor IP addresses are logged and stored for security purposes when GitHub Pages sites are accessed. Browsers also ordinarily send technical request information such as device/browser details to hosts and resource providers. Their handling of such information is governed by their own policies.
4. Third-party resources
The homepage and some stories request web fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these resources, Google may receive technical connection information, including your IP address. Links to other websites are subject to those websites' own privacy practices. We do not control third-party practices.
5. Analytics, advertising and tracking signals
The DoorQuests homepage uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate website traffic and performance. Loading its analytics script connects your browser to Cloudflare and can involve technical request data, such as the page visited, browser and device characteristics, approximate geographic information, and IP-address processing by Cloudflare. Cloudflare describes its Web Analytics as privacy-focused and not relying on cookies or localStorage for visitor tracking. These analytics are separate from the story-progress information saved locally in your browser. We do not currently use behavioral advertising on this site or sell visitor personal information. This site does not implement a separate response to browser Do Not Track signals. We will update this notice if our analytics or advertising practices change. For provider details, see Cloudflare Web Analytics and Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
6. How information is used and shared
Information you send directly is used to communicate with you, operate and protect the website, handle reasonable requests, and meet legal obligations. We do not publish visitor correspondence. Information may be disclosed to service providers involved in communication or hosting, or as required by law or to protect rights and safety. We do not intentionally collect account profiles, payment card information or precise geolocation through the present website.
7. Retention and your choices
Browser-stored story data remains on your device until your browser or you remove it. Emails and correspondence may be retained as reasonably needed for communication, operations, and legal requirements. You may ask us what personal information you have provided, request a correction or deletion of operator-held correspondence, or raise a privacy concern using the contact information below. We will consider requests under applicable law, subject to legitimate retention needs.
8. Children and families
DoorQuests is an entertainment site for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13. Parents or guardians who believe a child sent us personal information may contact us to request its review or deletion.
9. Changes to this notice
We may update this policy if site features, service providers or legal requirements change. The current version and its effective date will appear on this page.
